No, crime is not that bad here; probably much less than other cities with the same population. I attribute one reason for that is the state's belief that honest, law-abiding citizens should have every right to defend themselves.
And whereas the military population probably helps, I think it is the Texan mindset that supports these rights more so than those who have served. It tends to draw many here, myself included.
And there are a lot of fractured facts about children and handguns, many addressed in the latest version of
Gun Facts. I am not saying that guns are not dangerous, they are and should be handled accordingly; but the anti-gun lobby has tried to instill fears in the general communiting using unsupported "facts" to further their cause, which in itself directly contradicts our Second Amendment.
