Default Bandera/410 closed this weekend

Could it mean the end is near? That whole interchange is going to be awesome when completed! At least I hope so......I don't commute that way anymore, but when I did it induced margarita cravings at 7AM. Argh.

No, they've closed this interchange several times in the last year. According to the info found on txhighwayman's page, completion is scheduled for Q4 of 2009... The San Antonio Area Freeway System - Project Info: Bandera/Loop 410 Interchange

It sure will be nice when it's done. I'm already loving the extended exit lane for Bandera Rd, and once the flyover ramps are open I think congestion will be greatly reduced on that section of 410...

Yep...when they get the interchange done it's really going to jam up Bandera traffic from Leon Valley to 1604. The secret here is to finish all the improvements as soon as possible and expedite traffic flow, not just move the problem from here to there....

I don't think you understand the cause of the problem in that area. San Antonio and the state wanted to widen and improve the roads through "highway 16" to make it easier for the traffic to run through Leon valley. However, Leon Valley has been opposed to turning Bandera into a "highway". They want to keep the place quieter. The slowdown for progression has been Leon Valley and its representatives.

As mentioned, you can blame Leon Valley for that - The raising of Hwy16 and making it a true highway was shot down by them...

AND - Bandera from Leon Valley from 1604 is already jammed up. The finishing of the interchange won't change that.

Go all the way down Culebra, inside 410, bang a left on Callaghan, follow it till you get to Donut Heaven. Viola.

I understand the problem completely. The State is moving the problem from Bandera & 410 right into Leon Valley's lap. Now they can point the finger at Leon Valley for the bottleneck. They really needed to double-deck Bandera Rd. all the way through LV.
