Default Need advice thinking about opening booth in Fleamarket questions

Hello,

I wanted to know who had experience with Flea Markets, Selling and Buying I am thinking about opening a booth at a fleamarket and need advice. I am looking at the one on highway 90 do anyone have any advice on what is a good seller there, how much it is to sell there and do it have alot of traffic. Also I am new to this where are the best places to get items. I was thinking about reused things I need advice I don't want to get started until I do my research. Do you need a lot of money saved to get started with this. My joy is in doing this type of thing.

The two main, with the most business, flea markets are Bussy's on I35N toward New Braunfels and the flea market on Hwy 16 South of Loop 410S.

Bussy's I believe costs $20 to sell but is hard to get a spot unless you get there real early in the morning (before 7AM). There is a mixture of new and old stuff selling there, though I would say more old stuff.

The Hwy 16 Flea Market has mostly new stuff for sell, though you can get a spot easier since they expanded. If you sell used stuff only, then you can get a spot for $10, otherwise I believe it is $24 on Sunday's.

I have been the the Hwy 90 indoor flea market several times and I'm not impressed as most of the stuff was new and not many customers. I don't know how much they charge though.

Your best bet is to go to these flea markets and check them out on Saturday and Sunday.

There's several other flea markets:There is the Mission Flea Market. It sells mostly used stuff. The market has a couple of covered rows. The isles / rows are dirt. Here is their website. http://www.missionfleamarket.net/There is also Eisenhauer Road Flea Market. Eisenhauer Market Center - San Antonio's Largest Indoor Market a converted store so it's inside and air conditioned. As previously stated there is the Hwy 16 Flea Market or Flea Mart. I couldn't find their web site but it sells mostly new stuff. Has covered and paved isles/rows. They also have many garage type spaces for rent where you can lock and store your stuff there each weekend. Here is some info about it from the net, "Flea Mart. 12280 Highway 16 South. Hours 10am-6pm. Admission charge $1. Ample parking. Average weekend attendance 25,000. Approximately 600 dealers. Outdoor market with covered spaces. Great selection of goods here. Various types of food here for hungry shoppers. Clean rest rooms. The market has live entertainment, live music & many family activities. Space from $40. per weekend. Camping available. c/p Tom Browning, 12280 hwy 16 South. 78224. (210) 624-2666."Sorry I can't think of anything to give you advice on what to sell. I normally go to Flea Markets to sell my old junk instead of having a garage sell.

As far as the "business" end of your post, you might try one of the other forums about being self employed and business start ups. Or you might want to try another city and ask around for people in the business. Retail is retail whether it's a high end boutique or a flea market. Most competitors won't tell you where their sources are.
