Default Nuevo Progreso dentist recommendation

I'm thinking of combining a trip to South Padre Island (birdwatching) with a new crown for my back molar. Would someone please recommend a Nuevo Progreso dentist? I've looked at their websites--so many!--and am ready to hear actual experiences.

Also, where would I park so that I can walk across the border? No point in messing with the whole Mexican insurance boondoggle. I understand that I'll probably be hassled, but I've been to enough Caribbean countries to handle it.

I had exstensive dental work done in Nuevo Progreso by a Dr. Guerro.
He does excellent work with good prices. He speaks English(was trained in the States I believe). I highly recommend him. He's located about a block or so down from the bridge(on the right if coming from the bridge). His address is Juarez 220,phone # is 01152-899-937-0234. As far as parking goes there's a pay parking lot right before you get to the bridge(on the right)...park there and walk across, take some change with you because it costs a small fee at a turnstile to cross...I think it was a 25 cents to go across and 30 cents to come back.

Good Luck!
Matty:-)

I do. You appear to have copied the text of your messages from somewhere that supports text in different sizes. City-Data doesn't support multiple sizes, so the tags specifying size show up in the message.

Thank you for the information. Our main concern right now is whether or not Nuevo Progresso is still a safe place to go in light of the recent gunfire that broke out. My husband and I are considering seeing a dentist there and are worried that the druglord violence has now found its way into Progresso. Thanks for any info you can give us. Beach Kitty

Progreso is still safe. It's not like it's Matamoros, Reynosa, or N. Laredo.

I'm almost 100% sure that you do.
You can also get "passport cards" that is a passport ID that can be used in Mexico and other places,
comes out cheaper than an actual passport.

Yes, you need a passport.

ETA: You can also get a passport card, which is the size of a driver's license and is cheaper, I believe. But you can't use it for air travel - it's basically a convenience for people who walk or drive across the border to either Mexico or Canada.
