I need one for my camping trailer. I know, I know, it's camping and I shouldn't be watching TV anyway .

I have wondered that, too. From what I've seen on the "deals" web sites, there are plenty of people who are getting them because of the large coupon, with little regard for whether they would use them.

There is a lot of confusion surrounding the converter boxes. My in-laws got 2 coupons just in case, when they don't need them at all.

I got my two because I want one for the travel trailer and one because I am seriously considering pulling out all cable. If they are going to insist that we have to have them, then I think they should provide them. It's not my choice to have HI DEF TV.

I just got back from Target (Culebra and 1604) and they are sold out of the $45 converters. They are giving out rainchecks though.

Just don't ask the kid working in electronics for one . I asked him if I could get a raincheck and he said that he didn't know........ so I'm standing there looking at him like "can't you ask someone". Then he said he doesn't know if they are in the system to give rainchecks. I walked off. At the register I asked the girl if I could get a raincheck and she told me that I needed a number from someone in electronics . I told her nevermind. On my way out I stopped at customer service and she was very helpful.

Aren't they testing on all the non-cable channels for Digital TV tonight? Like 5:20, 6:20 and 10:20? That should let you know if you need a box or not. They should have done that earlier, then maybe people who didn't need coupons wouldn't have bought them so the ones that needed them could get them.

These converters don't give you Hi Def TV. They convert your old TV that doesn't have a digital tuner from analog to digital. Chances are, if you have a fairly recent TV, you'll still be able to watch the digital signal without the converter box, even if you don't have cable.

I just read what I wrote. I did word it wrong. Thanks for pointing that out for anyone that may have misunderstood what I was saying. Most of my tv's are going to have to be replaced soon becasue they are so old, but I will still need the boxes. The hard part is deciding which one is the best, not just the best price.

You realize the boxes have nothing to do with HI-DEF TV?? They really should have done a better job of educating the public.
