Child Protective Services
How can I found out if a child has been in or is currently in foster care or listed with some adoption agency? My friend has been keeping a secret from me for almost 5 years regarding a child i may have had with someone. The female has since had her two kids, one which may be mine, taken away and then she was arrested with a felony charge due to some family issues and now my friend says the reason she is concerned and is now telling me is because she no longer sees my ex with the kids. I am now concerned and afraid because if this story is true my son is now 5 and I need to get him so I can be part of his life. I'm already a single father of a 10 year old girl and a responsible individual. I just need some answers and need them fast. For those with advice, I thank you greatly.

WOW ! just the opposite from what I usually hear. OK You need to start with a visit to C P Services in your area. give them all the details and names , do a paternity test . State your case and intentions. Then you will have to wait and see .

I think you need to get a Lawyer to help you sort this out. Good luck.

Blue Dog is right....there are so many privacy and confidentiality issues involved in child rights that you probably cannot do this alone. However, before you get too heavily invested in a lawyer, you might consider hiring a private investigator to check out the mother's actual situation with the children....sometimes situations are not always what they appear to be from the outside.

Texas Attorney General
This is the link for the OAG of "Texas" has all the local offices and info. Forms for changing Birth Certificates, if she had someone else listed as the father in an "Acknowledgement of Paternity" just lots of good info, and contact to get started. Also email addresses for state people for more rapid response.
