Hey guys,
My dad has bad knees but he loves jogging on soft turf fields like soccer fields and football fields. I recently drove by OP Schnabel park and saw some soccer fields there. I tried to find information on the OP Schnabel website and tried to also find someone that works there, but no luck.

Does anyone know if you can jog on the soccer fields or do you have to be a YMCA member to use it? There are signs there that say they are only for YMCA use.

Thanks!

Based on this map, it appears that the soccer fields are part of the park and not necessarily the WMCA complex. They were there long before the YMCA was built, so your Dad should go run and enjoy himself!

By the way, there are some nice trails in the upper half of the park that are good for light running. They are a little harder than the fields, but if he wants a change in scenery those may be an option.

And the park's web site can be found here.

Cheers! M2

Thank you max mad! I actually emailed the park and they said it's under YMCA's jurisdiction...so it's up to them. Plus, the fields have signs that say its only available for YMCA use. We'll see what YMCA tells me.

That concerns me as those fields were there long before the YMCA took root. We used to go there to fly kites! They were city property and it looks like they've sold them out to the YMCA, which stinks as some people don't want to have to join or pay that organization to use areas which appear to have been built using taxpayer's money!

Cheers! M2

A friend of mine who works for the YMCA claims that anyone can use the fields. Let us know what they tell you though!

just do it. when they kick off an elderly man trying to get some exercise you can cross that bridge. Biking is good. Better on knees than running.
