It's time to get rid of the carpet. I'm not interested in having wood floors, I'm leaning towards Tile or Concrete staining & polishing of the existing concrete floor.
Has anyone had concrete staining done in their home? Likes/Dislikes? Details of the process would be nice.

TIA!

Default Just my opinion...

My parents got rid of their carpet and got stained concrete floors. Don't get me wrong it is a clean way of going. No more dust particles in the carpet. When the floors are clean, it is really clean. I just do not like that the floor looks dirty all the time, even if you clean every other day. The stain has faded and they hired a company and they used high end stain. Also, you should only have to wax the floors every 6 months and they have to do it every month to keep it looking nice. They overall have been a pain in the b**** than anything else.

Just my experience!

We decided the same thing and were considering staining the concrete, but when the carpet was pulled up the concrete was not in good enough condition to be stained. We put in 17" ceramic tile throughout the house.

My cousin had it done to his custom built home at the time of the build and it was beautiful to start with but now it has scratches and needs to be touched up. I really like the look of the stained concrete though.

We got rid of our carpet and put in Tile and wood. We hired South Texas Tile and they were amazing. I highly recommend them. They were very professional and quick! It took them 3 days to install about 1000 sq. feet of tile. Anyhow, we love it, and put in big area rugs so soften up the rooms where we actually live.
