I remember when Joes was Desparados. I use to go to Zooport where EZ's is now when I was a freshman. When I was younger I heard there was a "so called" hip hop club on or near Penn Rd called The Stuff. I may be wrong on the location, this would have been mid 80's. I use to go to Image on Military. Across from Rock Island there was a Reggae club called Ire's (sp), also there was a club called Boss Cat,and the Hippodrome.

I miss Beto's being next to La Tuna...I used to live in the studio above the restaurant. Apparently he got too popular and had to move to his Broadway location after La Tuna. I used to love their hot wings (made with habaneros) and their empanadas.

By the way, the new restaurant that is in the current location, La Tuna Grill, is fabulous...the chicken fried steak is to die for...along with the entire menu.

What happened to the reggae clubs anyway and what happened to the Reggae Fest they use to have a couple of weeks before Fiesta started. They use to have them at Sunken Gardens. I remember they had 1 at La Villita that Supercat played and 1 at Los Patios that Inner Circle palyed.

Hi,

Sorry have to laugh: DUBE (doobie) talking about Reggae! Too Funny!

Wasn't there a club on Fred. road across from the Black Eyed Pea (other side of Fred.) close to Medical that was Reggae?

OK, I don't live in SA, what was the name of the joint on the River Walk that is now Polly Esthers? I assume it was a tourist's club. I had a few good nights in that joint in the mid 90's
