I do kids rooms all the time...as a muralist, interior designer. I think the best rooms that I have done have been landscapes. Kids love them with animals. Something more realistic. They don't grow out of them as fast. If I were worried about resale, I would pick some exciting colors and do Fathead images that easily come off the wall. It's easier to pick colors when you buy new linens and base it on that.
