Being a transplant for CA I can tell you that there are a lot of people moving in from out of state, the most common license plate I see is from Florida though. My neighborhood was not made with native Texans in mind and sure enough there are very few natives here in Sonoma Ranch. The good news is that the out of state-rs are bringing money with them. Not just to buy the homes and increase prices but the jobs that boost the economy too. Growth always comes with growing pains. As for the conservative/liberal views it seems like a mix to me. Even though people think CA is liberal it really isn't at all, rather the contrary. Now we move here to SA and the natives complain that it's too slow but the new influx of out of towners is bringing in new life and they love it. Not making that up, had it said to me no less than 5 times. Also, and this is just a side note, I have seen more openly gay couples here than I even remotely expected. Mind you my dh and I moved here from the gayest neighborhood in San Diego and loved it and were lamenting the fact that we weren't going to see that when we moved to San Antonio. So not true! There are so many openly gay couples out here it's almost like back home. Now that's living proof that SA isn't nearly as conservative as one would be led to believe.

Speaking of gay, the regional manager for What-A-Burger and his partner live 2 houses away from me.

Love Hillcrest! My dh and dd are there right now, probably just finishing a mexican dinner. Ahh Baja mex, there are things that I will always miss.
Have you been to the Chipotle at Huebner? As far as we can the staff there is predominantly lesbian. Almost like back in the hood!

Yeah, they aren't really butch and they don't have any 'I hate men' labels on their forheads (very nice women in fact) but you can totally tell!

California at one time was very cheap to live in. My mom told me once when she first came to Cali as a young girl in the 1950s that California seemed liked a paradise.:'(

Anyone else notice this??
It's definitely happening all over the city. I know someone who works for a Home Depot and he strikes up a conversation with many who come in purchasing things for a home. He says the majority of them are transplants from California - all selling there and buying here.

Yeah CamaroGuy, remember the Neil Diamond song "I am" which was autobiographical, in which he wrote of moving to LA where "...palm trees grow and rents are low..." Who knew??

That's amazing, I'd like to get a list of pros and cons and weigh them. It just seems at this rate "keeping up with the Jones'" will turn into "keeping your head above water while on your tip toes."
