Again, thanks for the responses. We now have a reservation at Kirby's. It's later than I wanted but no big deal. My wife and I have always had low key Valentine's Days. Being in school sorta forced us to. Now, we have two really good jobs, will be in San Antonio, so what the heck. I'll deal with the crowds. Its like wise man once said, "its not where, but who you're with that matters."

The Palm is supposed to be nice and upscale...not sure how romantic (I have never been).

BUT...I figured I would post this here since it seems to be on par with the others mentioned:

Steak and Lobster Tail Dinner For Two for $89.95 (February 1st - March 1st)

Each of two people would get the following: Salad, Side, 9 oz. Filet Mignon, Seafood entree, and Desert

Steak and Lobster Tail for Two | Valentine's Weekend Champagne Dinner (you must print the certificate at this link and bring to the restuarant: Steak and Lobster Tail Dinner For Two $89)

Fred's Fish Fry on Zarzamora should not be that busy on Valentine's Day.

Um, can we please not use the term "blowing their wad" on a romantic valentines day thread. It doesn't sit right with me.

Come on CR, cheer up...it's a special day to others...no need to take over the thread with doom and gloom! Make the best of it!

I think this year, our kid is going with the sitter, and we are going to cook together at home. It will be nice to have the house all to our selves!

I love Valentine's Day as much as the next person, but I agree with cr1039 (I just wouldn't have been so blunt). What does romance have to do with how much money is spent? I would rather cook my Valentine a favorite meal and spend time just hangin' out.

BTW...I don't see the problem with the "blowing their wad" comment. Doesn't it mean spending all their money?

In an extremely gross and crude way....yes.
