Oh, and my father in law goes to a dentist in Mexico (in Las Florias, across the border from Mercedes) all the time - goes for checkups and cleanings twice a year, gets fillings, root canals, etc. The dentist does a great job.
Your "OH MY GOD, HELL NO" reaction to that suggestion was a little offputting.

You might try looking through the yellow pages for coupons for free or discount dental consultations, etc. Like, for ex. Monarch dentists and Campos dentists have some in the ATT yellow pages for free and low cost consultations/exams. That might get you in to see how bad the tooth is and what you might be expecting in cost. Then you could discuss some payment options with them/maybe they could recommend somewhere that does payment plans if they don't. Also, some offices offer the plans where you go through a credit company and can pay for treatment over time too. I do know that getting into the University of Texas dental is tough. It depends on your condition and how many people they are looking to treat/teach for that specific problem, and when they have openings.

Monarch Dental (Dr. Tucker) on Fredericksburg will set you up with a card called "care credit" or something - that way you can just make payments.

Care Credit is subject to credit approval and sometimes takes longer than 24 hours to get a response.

Yeah, I agree. Now, if we were talking about British dentists, then I could understand the concern...
Cheers! M2

Sorry everyone is offended by my not wanting to travel to Mexico for dental care.
My partner works full time, and I am not into the idea of taking my 6 month old alone with me over the border.
It just doesn't seem safe, but maybe I'm wrong.
Regardless, I can't afford to get there and back multiple times.

Being resistant to the idea of crossing the border for any type of medical treatment is certainly understandable. I wouldnt want to travel over there with a baby in tow either. Good luck finding proper care for yourself.
