We went to a seminar sponsored by Sun Tree Vacations in San Antonio, last fall, 2008. We were to receive 2 free airline tickets and a stay at a Marriott. PTS Travel has returned our $100. I called them to ask why. They said Blue Water (another name for Sun Tree) never paid for the certificates. The letter said to speak to Blue Water about it, but of course, you cannot find a telephone number. Does anyone have a telephone number for them?

I really despise this method of marketing, it's very pushy and the companies aren't always able to follow through.

My wife and I went once for a timeshare presentation, and one of the gifts was a set of Spurs tickets. We went through the presentation, etc, and the salesman kept asking about our financials, etc., and at one point wanted us to leave and go get a bank statement! Um, NO! They were very pushy and were telling us different ways we could cut things out of our lives to afford their services. Anyhow, after the sales guy stood up and blasted us in front of the room about how we were there only for the tickets (we weren't), we left. It's a shady business practice.

Good luck with your situation, you may be better off keeping your $100 and not pursuing the tickets. What did you pay $100 for? Was that all you paid?

We used to run a travel website also, and all the 'perks' that we got for travel were all the same type of setup - you get free rooms for a few days, but you have to listen to all these presentations etc in hopes that you'll buy an overpriced timeshare. So your mini-vacation is really just a place to sleep while they shuffle you around for their sales pitches.

You can have the boat or the mystery box.

Sounds like you should have taken the boat. I hate those places and will never go to one. If what they have is so good, why do they have to bribe you to get you there?

That's a very good point! I'm in the advertising business, and I hate this type of advertising, but I understand it...
