I must say that reading a lot of the posts gave me a good laugh on where to live or not to live; hispanic communittees etc.... i am feeling San Antonio.

i am in the medical field (CNA, HHA, Mental Health Clinician, work with youth in group homes and military academies) think i'll be able to find a job in one of those fields? at least hoping to. i am also in the National Guard (hoping that the national guard isn't like indiana (friends and family plan come first before integrity or army regulation ) looking for a guard unit preferably supply but beggars can't be choosers, so a HQ or DISCOM unit will do. (my rank is SGT)

i would like to live preferably in a town that is no more than 15-30 minutes from San antonio. peace and quiet, yet not far from the city. wide open spaces, though i don't want to get lynched (cuban american, brown skinned, most definitely couldn't pass for the stereo type of central/south american or white; black girl with asian features) i have one big dog zero kids. i am looking for a 2br house /fenced to rent. i am not looking for anything extravagant. low crime area is all the extravagance that i need

i am also looking for a university/college to finish my RN degree then to get a degree in pharmacology so a school that is $250.00 or less per credit hour would be great. (doesn't matter where i get my degree from; jr college etc... something that is accredited.)

hope i am not asking too much from my questions. if anyone can answer one but not all that is fine with me also. if i have to live dead smack in san antonio that is also fine with me; like i said, beggars can't be choosy.

i would like to make the move in June. i am going to spend 1 1/2 weeks in may checking out job prospects, where to live, neighboring cities, etc.... if you all could help narrow down my search even more, that would be terrific

thanks in advance. alright, think i'll be quiet now

Sorry, but your post made my head spin! Plus, many of your questions have been answered, so I am a bit skeptical that you did a lot of research on this forum.

Please try looking some more, then posting one or two questions instead. And I know I might be picky about this, but please use proper capitalization to make your posts easier to read.

But, until then, I don't see why you can't find most of what you are looking for here. This town has plenty of opportunities in it, and with some effort a person can do well here. And we do have several Texas National Guard units, but I don't have great insight into their hiring process and I am sure much of it depends on your MOS. Try the Texas National Guard web site for a start.

Cheers! M2

Default Just a thought

if you are looking into home buying I won't suggest KB homes. They are the yugo of home building here and most people have problems built into their homes that KB will ignore. Most Apartments in SA or about are good if they are fairly newly built. Not to say the older ones are bad but try to apartments at least 20 years or younger.

One great point is to watch online our trans guide maps during peek hours of traffic to see what ways you might find an easier time getting into SA area with traveling. We have lots of people who commute from Media Lake area or Bandera, Texas.

hopefully you have been to sanantonio.gov already since that is the best place to get local SA information. Most all the other cities have a simular websites as well. You can get the transguide maps and live camera feeds from there as well. You can also see areas of san antonio police department crime reports as well for certain SA subdivisions online.

Medical type jobs? yep we have a few even a new Medical center with lots of clinics and hospitals building up off hay 151 near seaworld. I don't know about RN classes but we have a comunitee college district. Hit mysa.kaanga.com for job listing from local paper.

Good luck.
