here is some info on that marriott at the skyscraper forums
San Antonio, Courtyard by Marriott, 17 floors - SkyscraperPage Forum
Out of all the projects going on downtown, i'm looking forward to seeing the finished Vistana. They are currently on floor 3.

I've always wondered.... AT&T have lots of buildings downtown and within the city, and they're stationed here... Why don't the just combine it and build one nice, new, tall building downtown?

they are all brown cause it's a thing the city requires for a highrise to be built in the downtown area or at least thats what I heard. Also if you want to see a good building website then go to Emporis.com which is a web site that looks over 1,000's of buildings in 100's of cities all over the world.

SA skyscrapers are mostly brown because that's generally the color of the sand and clays that make up the stone, bricks, and concrete here.
Many other cities, especially in the north, have a longer tradition of steel work and thus more skilled labor to do such work. That's why northern cities are pushing the envelope on steel skeleton skyscrapers. And with more steel you use more glass and with glass you a have good variety of color to use.
Also, it's psychological in that when a pattern is set, it's just easier to follow. San Antonio is steeped in tradition.
