My daughter needs her exam to get new contacts. This is the first time since moving back to SA that we are needing an exam. We were not members at Costco the last time, so we never looked into them. I live off of 281N and Overlook Parkway, so I prefer someone in the general area. TIA

A couple of members of my family have had eye exams at Costco, but neither wears contacts. Dr. Visitsunthorn there is very nice. She has a well-equipped office and her exams are priced much lower than the place we were using before in Stone Oak. IIRC, you don't have to be a member of Costco to use her office since it's independent.

I go to Dr. Mark Davis at Alamo Eye Care. Its in the Northwoods shopping area near Bed, Bath, and Beyond. He is wonderful. I have complications because of diabetes and he has been wonderful.

I've gone to Costco for eye exams, but purchase contact lenses online. Because of my astigmatism, eye exams are a bit higher. You don't need to be Costco members to go to the eye doctor there.

Not sure if prices are competitive because we have eye insurance, but we are very happy with Dr. Diana Gonzalez at Vision Source at 281 & Evans (near Papa John's & Arby's). Everyone in the office is very nice and they seem thorough. Reasonable prices on glasses but not sure about contacts.

I am actually sitting in Dr. V's office (Costco location). She is very nice and attentive. I did call Dr Gonzalez. The were charging $130 and up for new patients. Dr V starts out at $90 and up. The "and up" part is for astigmatism, etc.

Dr. V is great. Ditto on nice & attentive, and she didn't put out my eye, so that's always a bonus. Costco also has a coupon in the current coupon book for contact lenses.

Yes it is.

I forgot to mention that one of the big plusses of using the Costco optometrist is that they hand you your prescription after the exam and you are free to take it wherever you choose. Some places I've used make you beg for the prescription and try to steer you to use the place that they're affiliated with. The Costco optometrist office is not like that at all.

Years ago, I had an optometrist try to tell me that mail order contact lenses might be dangerous as a reason not to give me the prescription. I think they were just dangerous to his office's budget.
