Proud new owner of a new bike that was delivered to my house this past weekend! Wanted to know where are recommended locations to head to for gear in SA? Looking for reasonably priced gear and if anyone has recommendations for type of gear to go with to survive the hot summers, that would be great too!

Same here.

Alamo Cycle Plex (google it) currently has 25% off in-stock parts and accessories. I bought a black RF-1000 Shoei helmet for 285, reg 389 or so.

Just getting my stuff, but if this helps, give it a shot. You'll have to print off the coupon from their front page at the website.

First day I have a helmet, and I get stuck in a downpour. Fun stuff.

Before buying at Alamo Cycle Plex, check out Cycle Gear just up the street or Moto Liberty over on San Pedro.

Alamo does have some deals but for the most part they are a pretentious dealership and way overpriced. I bought all my gear (full leathers, helmet, boots and gloves) at Cycle Gear and they were not only easier to work with, but they have a very liberal exchange policy so if something doesn't work out, you can return it.

I bought some gloves at Alamo that I just didn't like, and although I hadn't even worn them while riding and they still had the tags on them; they gave me a boatload of grief for wanting to return them. I ended up finding better gloves at Cycle Gear for cheaper!

But I did find a good deal on a textile jacket at CyclePlex, so it's worth checking out; but don't buy anything that isn't on sale and that you haven't checked the other stores for first!

And be safe out there, SA drivers are not the most courteous in the first place, and they are even worse towards motorcyclists!

Cheers! M2

Oh, and if I can throw a plug in for Two-Wheeled Texans, it is a great group of folks who ride a wide variety of motorcycle types. It is also a good forum to find stuff on, I just picked up a Bluetooth helmet-to-helmet communications set from a guy up in Austin for when I have my son or wife riding along with me!

Plus, the have monthly 'Pie Runs' to interesting places throughout the Lone Star State which are a lot of fun!

Cheers! M2
