Default Utilities questions

I may be transfered to San Antonio very shortly. The housing prices are mind-boggling compared to those here in Orange County, CA, so I think I'll be in for a pleasant surprise as far as finances go.

Could someone give me ballpark monthly figures for the following utilities/services for a 4-bedroom home?

Electricity
Water/sewer
Gardener (lawn care)

The weather here in OC is so nice that I almost never run my A/C or heater, so I'm trying to get a handle on the increase so that I can pass the costs onto my employer when we negotiate the raise that I'll require as part of the move.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. My current (no pun intended) electric bill is about $60 and water/sewer is $15, so that's another $200/month I'll need to ask for. Then there's out-of-state tuition for my kids, etc.

I think a $10k raise should cover it.

Default Apartment Utilities

I will be moving to San Antonio in a few months. I am wondering what the cost of utilites will be like in a one bedroom, 725 sq. ft. apartment. I am looking for gas, electric, cable, everything basically. I know utilities vary for everyone based on the plan and consumption, but I am just curious what people are currently paying so I can get an idea. Thank you!

I am originally from Pomona, CA and my parents still live in LaVerne. If you have a house you're selling in OC, then your money will go a long way here! Although our utilities are higher, they are the cheapest for any of the big cities in Texas (and lower then most other cities too!).

Other pluses here:

No state income tax
No large traffic jams (not yet at least)
No SMOG (some haze though once in awhile)
Cheaper food and gas (currently at $2.79 a gallon)
Hard to get lost (two highway rings around the city Loop 410 inner and Loop 1604 outer)
City is spread out (Loop 410 is 53 miles around and Loop 1604 is 100 miles around)
Most new houses start around 130s and go to 300s (of course, there are more expensive homes here)

Hope this helps
