New to the area...recommend places where educated singles hang out?
Hello. I am relatively new to the area and am interested in finding places where educated singles hang out (late twenties/early thirties crowd).
I'm looking to meet new people and socialize. I'm not into clubs. Looking for more of a lounge type, piano bar, or maybe sports bar/relaxed atmosphereLounges/jazz bars are more of what I'm used to (I'm from up North).
Most interested in meeting african american men.
Thanks in advance for the information.

I'll be interested in checking back on this one. I haven't found too much yet either and am looking for a similar crowd but not necessarily looking for af-am men. There is a place call Tonic that is about the age you are going for with a pretty wide range of people. It is at Babcock and Eckhert.

Wildfish (can be an older crowd sometimes, go after word for HH goers)
Drink (Downtown)
V Bar and Citrus (both in Downtown Hotels)
Flying Saucer (mixed crowd, go after work for HH goers)

Although I've only been to Tonic a few times it did have a lounge kind of feel and was very nice. I would second that. Nice crowd as well.
Flying Saucer can get very crowded at times and probably not the best place to meet people, more of a group, "let's get together" kind of thing. Check out this previous thread. To the OP, I don't know if it has much of a mention of african american men, but the age group you are looking for is included.

For an adult (not sleazy, just grownups) place to hang out, Tucker's Kozy Korner is a great little gem of a lounge downtown on E. Houston Street just under 281. You will definitely find African American men here, but it's just a great place for anyone who likes a laid back time. Tucker's is a bit of San Antonio history, and on Tuesday nights during the summer, bring your own steak and they'll grill it for you. Nothing like it in town, and you'll always meet someone new and interesting.

Zinc Wine Bar on Presa between Commerce and Market usually has a good mix of young singles.

I know Posh in Alamo Heights has a Jazz night which caters to African Americans. It's very nice, and good music.
