Hello jules07,

My kids are way too old for daycare on Reed Road; however, my grandkids wouldn't be (but they live with their mom in Northern SA). However, I have "cut" through your neighborhood several times when the traffic heading south on Loop 1604 was backed up beyond Reed Road. With that said, I DID NOT speed through your area, though I was tailgated a few times. How does that saying go? I may not be faster than you, but I am ahead of you! Anyway, no more need to go through your area as the southbound lanes are now open. BTW, people cut through our area (Westcreek) all the time to avoid Potranco.

Basically, what THEY decided was: If there is no traffic signal, then you have only one way to go, either northbound or southbound only depending if you live on the east or west side of Loop 1604.

I hate to say it, but that totally makes sense. It's really a drag only being able to go one direction now, but I guess it's the price of progress. When/if it gets done and traffic goes smoother, it'll be worth it.

Btw, thanx for being one of the few who *don't* speed through our neighborhood! I'm sure it was one of the daycare parents who was tailgating you. One of my pet peeves (soap box issues) is parents who are transporting *their* little ones but think nothing about barreling through a residential neighborhood where somebody else's little ones could be playing. Can totally see folks doing it thru your neighborhood as well. (stepping off my soapbox, now ).

Default Update on Loop 1604 Northbound

I received an e-mail response from TXDOT (very fast reply and polite) concerning the current situation on the northbound section of Loop 1604.

"Crews will be repairing the left lane of the northbound Loop 1604 before the roadway can get its final overlay and pavement markings. The overlay will also eliminate the difference in elevation between the north and southbound lanes. TxDOT anticipates that this work will take 6 weeks. At that time, the second northbound lane will be opened to traffic."
