The main joysticks are 8-way but I mostly play the old games and they play better with a 4 way joystick so I wired one in parallel with the player one side (most old games share the P1 side anyway)

S & B Amusements in Austin sells them. I'm sure they could find you whatever classic arcade game you are looking for, if they don't have it in stock -

I've owned Tempest and Tron machines in the past... if you have the room, it's a fun hobby. Something about the original games with their artwork & funk really brings you back... however, for playability and price, MAME can't be beat! MAME is also great since it has been made for pretty much any platform: any computer type, cell phones, PDAs, etc... they are all powerful enough to emulate the original ROMs.

Some dude's flogging a couple of junkers on Craig's List right now, but I'd say away unless you were intending to make them MAME cabinets and redo everything. They're cheap, though.
