I like the HEB at 1604 and Bandera also. I have to agree with Sapphire though as far as the Wal-Marts go. Some have really gotten their act together. But I am still missing the best shopping experience of all and that is Wegmans. I shopped there exclusively when we were in NY. If anyone has had the pleasure to shop there you know what I mean.

Best H.E.B for me is 281 and Evans. I think it is the newest HEB plus and always has adequate staff to minimize wait times. Great samples too!

Default HEB & Wal-mart

While I prefer to shop at Target because I dislike Wal-Mart sooooooooo much, I know that the one off Jones Maltsberger and 410 is pretty small and clean. If the need ever arises, I drive to that one.

The HEB that they just opened not too long ago is near my house off Wurzbach parkway. It's called Alon Market. I have to warn you though, I noticed that some items are a little bit more expensive and don't stock every item that you might be used to at others.

Hope this helps.

I usually shop at the HEB on Blanco and 1604, the service is great and everything is well organized. I usually shop at night, so i wont have a problem with the place being crowded.

As per WAL MART, I have not visited one of those stores in the last 5 years, or maybe even more.

I really like the HEB Plus stores. The one on Potranco is closer to me if shopping from home, however, when shopping from work I use the Blanco location. I have been able to find items at the Blanco store that I haven't found at other stores. Alon is nice, but haven't done a big bill shopping there. Hope this helps! BTW- I go to WalMart if I absolutely have to and that's all! THe meat and produce just doesn't seem fresh to me. Just my opinion-aren't we happy to have choices!

I really like the Potranco/1604 HEB. I think it's nicer than the one at Bandera and Culebra...but that's my personal opinion. Those are the only one's that I have been in. I also like the Texas Backyard that they have there.

I shop at three HEB's. My favorite is 1604 and Blanco but I also shop at 281 and 1604 because it is a test store. The one closest to me is 281 and Evans and I like it as well but it is HUGE. 4 acres under roof. It took a while to learn to navigate it but now I know my way around and the folks are very friendly.

How is the test store different from the others?

I don't eat meat, but I have noticed that prices vary on a lot of items based on location. I do most of my shopping at the Olmos Park HEB, but also frequent SW Military at Goliad. Both tend to be quieter in the morning.

As for Walmart, Yuck!
