Sensible, but nice 3 stars or so. Travelling with 3 kids, so kids' amenities & close to sightseeing would be great! Interested in visiting the Alamo & Riverwalk mainly.

Thanks!

try tripadvisor.com for SA

lots of people recommend the Drury on Riverwalk--there are two
one of them is kind of far away
get a three day bus pass for getting around city on the street cars--can be long wait but kids get tired of walking...
check out the SA visitors web site--sometimes hotel specials there

Travelzoo has special at Emily Morgan right next door to Alamo

Marriot near Riverwalk--not all dates open

rates in Riverwalk are are more expensive because you pay to be close
if you stay out by airport or other areas where rooms might be cheaper, you pay for parking...
RiverWalk Center downtown used to have free/reduced parking if you bought something from one of the stores--you can walk right outside to the Alamo from the Mall--IF you know what you are doing...
and there are surface lots to pay daily parking fee so it just depends
