I heard a rumor today about gun sales
That Sportsman's Warehouse is closing and that Academy is discontinuing ammo and weapons sales. I really like Sportman's Warehouse and will miss them if this is true, but I wonder why Academy is getting out of the biz of firearms and ammo sales and support?

Just a rumor to fuel the current paranoia about the new administration and guns...don't buy into it.

i don't know, there may be a little truth to this. I have noticed the Sportman's Warehouse at 281 and 1604 has not been restocking their shelves. Have noticed this since about November.

they are going out of business. feel free to check their website. Well some of them anyway. The one at 281 is having trouble getting inventory due to lack of $$. They are liquidating some of their assets (stores) to free up capital to operate the profitable stores. The one in round rock is going down.

Yup, definitely true. I went by today to get some primers ( which they were out of, of course ) and they have going out of business signs and 30% off liquidation signs up.

Not yet. So far the sale applies to "everything but guns and ammo" according to the sign on the doors this morning.

The one at 151 never made a profit, according to the gentleman I talked to who worked there. And there problems have been going on for a long time. But the lack of ammo at Academy is probably more due to the fact that there has been a run on it and most stores are having a hard time keeping it in stock. The same is happening at WalMart.
And svg210, if the 151 SW closing is anything to go by, they probably sold all their guns ten minutes after the sale started. That store was a madhouse after the sale started...
Cheers! M2
