boricuapower927 - I think that is one of the best posts I've read in reference to a city that might not be so desireable to live in. You did it in a very classy way. BTW - what does "boricua" mean? You said you were proud to be "boricua". Thanks!

Boricua is a person from Borinquen. Borinquen is the original Taino name for Puerto Rico. Taino is the name of the native people of Puerto Rico before the Spaniards arrived. Correct me if I'm wrong boricuapower927.

Thank you. I tried to be fair but also realistic. Noljos is correct in terms of the origin of the word Boricua. In laymans terms when a puerto rican person states they are proud to be Boricua they are basically saying that they are proud to be where they are from (Puerto Rico) and are not ashamed to claim it.

Sorry for the tangent, I did not intend to hijack this thread at all with the background on that word.

Thanks Noljos & Boricua! And if anyone needs to apologize - it's me. I went off on the tangent in the first place.

FWIW, I spent a week in El Paso for business several years ago and I personally would not want to live there. The people we worked with tried so hard to meet our tech/production needs but just couldn't by virtue of the fact that funding was low and resources were just not available.
