Default Hotels around the airport?

I'm flying in at night and was wondering if the hotels around the airport are nice/safe.

HI Chimpie.....YES....there are a number of safe, nice and affordable hotels by the airport.

The Embassy Suites is on 281 just West of the Airport but North of Loop 410. I believe the exit is 281 and Isom Rd.

Other hotels:

Courtyards by Marriott (on Broadway North of Loop 410) SE corner of Airport
Residence Inn (SE of Airport on Loop 410 and N New Braunfels.
Also a really new Best Western near this same location.

West of 281 and all along Loop 410 with 1 mile of the Airport:

Holiday Inn Select
Staybridge Inn
Fairfield Inn
Drury Inn
Lots of others....

All of these would be a short drive some even walking distance to North Star Mall....and plenty of Restaraunts. (Pappadeaux's, Texas Land and Cattle Steakhouse, Friday's, Jason's Deli, Applebee's)

Two exits South of the Airport is the Amerisuites Hotel on McCullough and Jones Maltsberger. It's across 281 from the Quarry Market that has a theater, lot's of restaruants and shopping:

Gap, Pottery Barn, Bed Bath and Beyond, Border's Bookstore, Restoration Hardware, Coldwater Creek, James Avery Jewelry, Whole Food's Market, OfficeMax, Chico's, Old Navy, Yankee Candle, Calico Corners, Banana Republic...just for starters.

Restaruants at the Quarry are:
EZ's $ (burgers, rosemary chicken, cobb salads, chili, pizza, etc)
Flemings $$$$$
Chili's $
Gold Canyon Cafe$$
Starbucks
PF Changs $$$
J Alexanders $$$
Piatti's Italian Bistro $$$
Chipolte Tex Mex Burrito's$$

All of this is a two minute drive from the airport!

Enjoy your stay! Are you coming here on business or relocating soon?

Thanks for the reply. I'm flying in around noon so staying near the airport is not as necessary as it once was, but I wouldn't mind if it's clean and safe, and cheap. The more I save on the hotel, the more I spend around town.

Hi! When my husband and I came to see the city we stayed at La Quinta by the airport. It was nice, inexpensive, and had a great bkfast in the morning! Have fun and enjoy San Antonio!

Oh...I forgot about that La Quinta! It's probably the closest to the airport as you can get. It's fairly new....about 3 years old. It's not like the old La Quinta's....it's about 8 stories and more like a hotel instead of the old "motel" type with room doors on the outside. Most of the newer hotels have moved away from that layout for safety reasons. The La Quinta is in a great location to get anywhere.

Generally, the farther from downtown, the cheaper the rates....unless you are near Six Flags or Sea World.

Thoughts on:

Homestead at San Antonio Airport @ 1015 CENTRAL PARKWAY SOUTH San Antonio, TX ?

Quality Inn & Suites Northwoods @ 1505 BEXAR CROSSING San Antonio, TX ?

Best Western Casa Linda @ 8818 JONES MALTSBERGER ROAD San Antonio, TX ?

La Quinta is about $138 per night while the ones above in this post is about $90-100 a night.

That BW on Jones Maltsberger is in an OK location, but it's about 10 years old. That may not seem old, but from the outside it's faded and looks like it's lacking in maintenance. Where hotels are concerned, if they arent keeping up the outside, the inside won't be any better.

I don't know the others.
