OK, you are posting accusations without any documentation, and this is your first post on this forum.

I have been to this rescue several times and have never seen the things you have described.

I would like to see where you are getting this information, as otherwise your comments are inflammatory and libelous…

And don't post that drivel from the San Antonio Lightning...if their "information" was true, the why does the Captive Wild Animal Protection Coalition continue to send animals there? I've read the report on the Lightning, all it said was that the facility was cited for not properly disposing of deceased animals due to inability to destroy them because of a burn ban at the time. All other allegations are unsubstantiated...

^^^ okay, not trying to start a debate but i thought i remember a news story last year or the year prior about this facility being under investigation by the Attorney General's office...

i don't remember the specifics as to why they were being investigated...

the only reason the story stuck with me is because my brother met the owners daughter or niece and they went on a couple dates, nothing serious...but she did give my brother a couple of small advertisement type magazines and/or calendars for my daugthers from the orphange, which they thought was really cool...

when the story came out on the news my oldest daugther said "hey mommy, isn't that the same place that uncle _____ gave us those magazines from"...

a quick search on the Attorney General's website does show a letter pertaining to the investigation ... i only skimmed thru it, something about violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices...

As you can see in my post, if you read the whole thing, I said that I was a docent (tour guide, in case you don't know what it means) there. That was enough "documentation" for me. I had a relative that worked there as well and this relative was privvy to inside information as they worked closely with the owner.

I have not read the San Antonio Lightning article you are speaking of so that, in no way, is behind my accusations.

Honestly, does it matter that that was my first post?

Ijust visited there a month ago and was very impressed by the condition of the grounds and the animals. There were no signs of neglect whatever. The docent took us on a 45 minent tour. I love big cats and would have been very upset to see neglect.

The simple truth is that if the alleged violations were that serious or even substantiated, the place would no longer be operating.

As I pass it everyday on my way to work, I see it is still open.

I take that to be more of a statement of fact than firsthand experiences that are nearly 15 years old...

I've lived by it, visited it several times since 1995, always seen that the people took care of the animals that others have abandoned or that have been dumped or dropped off there by the state or some other entity for them to take care of. Those that want to put down their efforts need to look at the work those people put in, the amount of time they volunteer, and the fact that most of everything there is donated. The people that manage the facility may not be perfect, and may not manage every animal 100 percent, but I do know they are not trying to harm or neglect them. You may state they are understaffed, and underfunded, but to accuse them of intentional wrongdoing, you made a very precocious and unsubstantiated libelous statement. If you were as you say a docent back then, and were an employee, not a volunteer, then if those alledged cruelties were or are still occurring, it's your duty, nay obligation to do more than stand behind an anonymous screen name and contact the authorities and put in a formal complaint with your name and signature. (not an anonymous rumor)
