ChrisMP will become famous soon enough
Lemonfrest: I am just not talking about nightlife. I am talking about the culture that is all around San Antono. Sure, I would love to live in Stone oak or downtown, but truth be told, I can not afford it, and I do make a pretty good living.

I do live in Suburbia and in my mind, suburbia should be a quit place that is safe and nice with good people. I just don't see it. sure, most people are fine, but there are so many that are not. People who bought a house becaue prices were cheep, got married and had kids, but deep down they are children themselfs.

I see neighbors who have 3 generations living in the house with nobody older than their 50's. I see fathers and mothers with many tattos wondering if they have any money in their kids college fund? Now I could be wrong. But it is just my feeling.

What gets me is even though it is the suburbs, doesn't mean that it has to be cookie cutter with chains and strip malls. Where are the independent places. Fast food places are full at all time. Who is eating this crap and worst giving it too their kids.

I am hopeing I am wroing, but more and more I see this to be what San Antoio is. Some really great people mixed with people going through the motions in life.

ChrisMP, you come off very judgemental and one dimensional. You are complaining about how OTHERS CHOOSE to live THEIR lives, when it has no real impact on you personally, what do you care if generations are living in a house? (for some its a cultural thing) Are these people directly causing problems for you? So you cant afford to live in what you perceive are more culturally acceptable places, but Im sure someone with a pretty good living as yourself can afford to drive to that part of town. Unless the people you are complaining about, are bringing harm and causing problems for you, then mind your own business and live your own life allowing others to live theirs. Based on several of your posts, you appear to be the one with little direction. Societies, cultures, communities are all about DIFFERENT people going thru the motions, emotions, obstacles, and victories of their lives. Since you are so unhappy here, have clearly come to your own conclusion about San Antonio, given that you are so educated and motivated you should have no problem finding another job in a city more to your own liking.

I would say that is somewhat true, but not 100% I love diff cultures and people. However, nobody should have to deal with somethings I see and have to deal with everyday.
And I think a lot of people think the same way but can never say anything or do anything.
For example. I should not have to deal with graffiti on the side of my office. Here is the truth, it is not art. It is some scum sucking losers who have no respect and no life and people who defend it are just as bad.

When I leeve my house, I have respect for fellow people. I say please and thank you. I drive like a normal person. So ,yes, this does affect me and I can not be alone in thinking that the attidude buy these adult children is just horrible. I would hate to be a person who worked hard his whole life to buy him and his wife a house and is now 50 and has to deal with some 30 year old every day "PUMPING" his or her music from their car or house. Truth is, it is though for people to say anything because they come off as rude or wrong.
Dogs bark all of the neighborhood at all times because parents playing house buy dogs and don't take care of them. People hate this but can't do anything. I don't know. It is just sad.

Sorry, I am just fustrated today about the Graffiti and a tad pissed off about it.

Chris, like so many have told you, pick up a copy of the Current, search the internet, just plain drive to other parts of the city. That part of the city is not for me either, so my wife and I get out and look for things/areas/people we enjoy. We split time living in two cities (Austin and SA) and are equally entertained in both.

Also, Chris, you say you make a good living. You really should have no problems relocating from your current neighborhood to one in which you might enjoy more. Granted, it may not be YOUR ideal 'hood (you stated Stone Oak), but there are affordable homes in areas where the problems you encounter are rare to nonexistent. SA is a pretty affordable city.

Some may feel that it is. Different perceptions. I came from NY via SoCal...so my perception of a "good living" may very well be different than others.

Yeah, a single person can live just fine on 50k per year, includng buying a house. I know plenty of people doing it. (I also know some one-salary couples who are living on about that or a little more.)

Granted, you're not going to buy some huge mansion and fly to Tahiti for the weekend, but you can live happily and easily and have lots of fun in SA for 50k per year.

You stated that you made a pretty good living. As far as 50k goes, well, it depends on what part of the city you are in. That's a great income for a single person in your part of town. It could be an adequate income in most of the city and severely lacking in others. Cost of living is much more affordable than east coast living, which I'm sure you are aware of coming from FL. It's all relative. Look, like I said, SA is pretty affordable. For what I paid for my home in Austin, I could get more bang for the buck in SA. Now I may be wrong, but it seems you have queries that aren't be addressed or communicated properly on these boards. If that's the case, then use a realtor. A realtor could give you specifics on areas, demographics, homes, etc. in a quick and direct manner.
