Is there anything to do in Uvalde???
I am probably out of luck here. We are camping in Uvalde 4th of July weekend for my daughter's softball tourney and I was hoping there was something to do. I checked the web and found three things .

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

That's where Matthew Maconaghey is from (sp?). You can do some pretty bad ass kayaking down there. Other than that, I don't know!

Yesterday we stopped at KFC on Grissom (Culebra/Grissom) at the request of our 8 yr old.

As soon as we got out of the car, a homeless guy walked up mumbling to my wife - she said she couldn't understand him, and walked our daughter up to the door (I was on the other side, she drove). He started mumbling louder and glaring, etc - I walked up to the door to let the girls in, to put me in between him and them, and he pushed right by us all into the store and walked up and practically stood ON the guy currently at the counter.

So we shrugged it off, no big deal.

He turned around and was just glaring at my wife, mumbling. I looked at him and said "Strike Two". I don't know if he understood or not, but he shut up and turned around.

It smelled like trash! IN the restaurant!! There were flies everywhere and the floor was filthy - we left after standing in line for a minute. Disgusting. We lost our appetites for about an hour, couldn't get the smell out of our noses.

Quail Springs RV park, I've never been there. It looks nice but they don't have a pool or river. It was kinda last minute. We just found out we would have to be in Uvalde for three or four days in a row and figured it would be cheaper than driving if we just camped. Of course, it being 4th of July weekend, our choices were limited.

that is SO why the Taco Bell/KFC on Potranco/1604 needs to open soon. That Grissom one is usually disgusting

BTW, forgot to mention this earlier. According to my son, they're opening a Bush's Chicken by Ingram Park mall. Not sure exactly where, but he recognized the building.

We use ours all the time!

I was trying to find some good pictures of a place we love to stay. Wes Cooksey park in Camp Wood. It's a very small park but beautiful and right on the water. The water is sooooo clear. We love to take the kayaks and just look down. The lady that runs the place is a bit gruff but she keeps everyone in line. Try to check it out if it's not to far from where you'll be. I cant find any good pictures.
