Yup! NIN says this is the last time they'll tour with JA, they haven't in a while either. Creative diffs, I guess. I might have to make that drive to go see this one!

International diplomacy....OMG! Not dissing our new Prez....nor the good Queen from across the pond here. Forget all the hype about Mrs O touching the "Queen".....what is with them giving an IPOD as a "presidential gift" to the Q and her Prince???? Not that a signed portrait from the British monarchs was much better.

But an IPOD??? I can see that in the royal vault now with tourists 100 years from now looking at all the gifts from foreign dignitaries through out the centuries......and coming upon an IPOD! Words escape me......

He gave Gordon Brown a boxed DVD set. Granted, they're American classics, but in return he got "a pen holder fashioned from the oak timber of HMS Gannet, a Navy vessel that served on anti-slavery missions off Africa.....a framed commissioning paper for the HMS Resolute......and a first edition of Martin Gilbert's seven-volume biography of Winston Churchill......."

The girls got "an outfit from Topshop, a British chain of clothing stores, and selected six children's books by British authors which have yet to be published in the U.S."

"In return, First Lady Michelle Obama presented the prime minister's two boys with toy helicopters modeled after Marine One."

I'm not too impressed with our selection of gifts. Was the DVD set for the correct region? The gifts received were much more... what's the word... thoughtful. The ipod I found embarassing. But I hate ipods so....

What? it gets worse?

Uber points on the pen holder and the significance of what it was made from!
And touche on the SEVEN volume biography of Winston Churchill. Our new prez sent BACK the bust of Churchill loaned to the White House after 911. Ironically that story didn't make a blip on the radar screen. But what a HUGE international faux pas! Even when he attempted to return it, the Brits were insistent that it was loaned "indefinitely"....and that he did not need to return it. He did anyway. Again....where are the words....and where was the media coverage???
