My mom is a stickler about that....she's got every pic labelled L to R....and then a little blurb about the event or whatever was going on. She sends me a few random ones every couple of months or so....I think she's cleaning out her closet so I can clutter up mine.
One of the coolest gifts I got from her--on Mother's Day this year--was a little black and white of her in 1964--with me in her belly! It's so cute! I framed it and it's on my TV stand. First thing my son says? "Where's MY picture of ME in your belly?" Out come the ultrasound pics--you can even see him sucking his thumb. Times have sure changed from that little b&w Polaroid.

There's a picture of my mom and dad in Spain when my mom was pregnant with me -- with a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other. PRICELESS

Whoa....I just read that MJ was mainlining Diprivan, an anesthetic basically used ONLY in hospitals under highly monitored conditions for general surgery. It basically renders the patient unconscious for however long needed. I'm more and more convinced that he had a death wish. He was $500m in debt and facing a grueling tour with chronic pain......he must have wanted off this planet.
AstraZeneca that makes this drug even said it had risks for heart attacks. His RN adamantly rejected multiple requests for it and was shocked to see that he got it somehow. It's only administered via IV and is a thick white substance.
He never knew what hit him. It's so tragic that his life was sucked out of him from an early age. He probably didn't know any better than to keep living by what was demanded of him.
I feel for those children. Blanket? and what is the other's name?

Do you guys ever stumble into the same situation? Where do you go...who do you talk to...how do you find out more about the photos? You could hire a photo detective, but that takes hundreds of dollars. If we don't investigate the photos, their story will be lost forever.

You host a family reunion and make sure all the ol' timer's can make it. Then you sit with 'em all around the dinner table and take really good notes. But whatever ya do, DON'T write on the pics unless you are using archival quality pencil just for the task. Sticky notes are good - stuck to the back of the pic - then you can transcribe the info later. Micro cassette recorders are a great idea too. genealogy websites can be helpful with tips and suggestions as well.
And you don't have to host the reunion, just visit lots of family over the next few months and always have the photos (or copies) handy. Someone will recognize a house, a tree, a car, or maybe even a person!
Good luck!
