I used to drink coffee every morning, then switched to hot tea. Now, the latest studies show that hot cocoa is best drink you can have:
"Foods rich in cocoa appear to reduce blood pressure but drinking green and black tea may not, according to an analysis of previously published research in the April 9, 2007 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine,[7] one of the JAMA/Archives journals. A 15-year study of elderly men[15] published in the Archives of Internal Medicine in 2006 found a 50 percent reduction in cardiovascular mortality and a 47 percent reduction in all-cause mortality for the men regularly consuming the most cocoa, compared to those consuming the least cocoa from all sources."

50% reduction in cardiovascular mortality? That's huge! So, for those of you that like hot chocolate, go for it. I no longer feel guilty drinking it, lol.

I've found that the most harmful thing to your health is reading all the contradictory crap that is printed almost daily. I can't keep up--one day caffeine is killing us, the next day it's the best thing ever. It's the same for almost every item we consume. All the ever-changing "facts" are about as effective as the silly red yellow orange threat system that Homeland Security has. What the hell does it all mean?

Moderation is key. Moderation. Ugh.

Agreed, but when studies show a "50%" of this or that, I kind of pay attention a little more.

But yes, I read the other day how beer was the better post-workout drink because it absorbed nutrients better. Go figure!

I was watching Monster Quest yesterday and they were talking about bear population. We were imformed earlier how the polar bear population is dwindling. A polar bear expert (not on that program) stated that the polar bear population has doubled over the past 50 years. On the program yesterday, the polar bears appear to be going inland and some are mating with the grizzly bears. In New Jersey the brown bear is becoming a nuisance to the residential neighborhoods. Bears are no longer afraid of man, but like to get into the yards and the trash.

I watched a similar program a few weeks ago in which researchers could only point out 1 grizzly/polar hybrid found in the wild, and that bear was shot by a hunter (which is how the bear was otherwise discovered).

My own far from clinical study has found that the short-lived Throwback Pepsi mixed with Jack makes me feel much more happy than regular Pepsi.
