Machiavelli's The Prince will start the kids on the right track

or there's always Dr. Seuss and Where the Wild Things Are. They're still my favorites.

if you insist on some Russian, go with Dostoyevsky's Преступление и наказание (Crime and Punishment).
I'd also highly recommend throwing in some Poe. The Tell Tale Heart would go good as a contrast to Crime and Punishment and The Cask of Amontillado has always been a twisted favorite of mine.

BTW, cute babies. My granddaughter turns one on Wednesday.

We're all hoping the baby boy is only in the NICU for a couple days.......nice, simple, short books are optimistic.

Hope the little guy is improving, GLAM-MA!

Jules...one of ours was a preemie.....teeny tiny. Born at 28 weeks! I couldn't be in the NICU so one of the nurses brought me books and a recorder and played them until I could be there. She said it helped mom and baby bonding to hear my voice and become used to it. She suggested longer books ....I picked books like the original Winnie the Pooh books (not the abbreviated versions) and Mary Poppins back then....the main point..to hear your voice and respond. What wonderful grandparents you are to start off dedicating time to those precious little bundles. Obviously, bonding with g-parents is awesome too!!!

BTW - they may have already told you this....but it's not uncommon for infant boys to be a little slower to develop in the womb. Being born at 36 weeks....boys tend to need that extra time with "mama" to fully develop all those little things. I'm sure he'll be fine soon. It must have been hard for your daughter to leave the hospital without him. Mine was in NICU for six weeks.....it just about killed me.

They are absolutely beautiful!

...and fortunately for us, it's still a "man's world" after we mature.

For you car enthusiasts out there apparently the moratorium on car night at Big's Truck Stop @ Potranco & IH 151 is over. Passed by there this evening and there were all types of cars backed up with hoods open and people milling about....
