I did not know that. I knew it was 80 mph out there but I didn't know that was the only place in the US.
It's true. I believe it was 1999 when Montana had a period where there was "no limit" during the daytime, weather permitting. They have since changed that to 75 MPH.

Also note, that 80 MPH limit in West Texas goes down to 65 MPH after sundown.

Yes, and someone needs to tell my husband that it is NOT 80mph when pulling a camping trailer

How far into West Texas?

Here's a pic I took between Junction and Harper which is still part of the Hill Country:

You know...I LOVE that drive out to Junction....but it does get sort of flat and monotonous past that. I wonder where that boundary line is too? I bet that's a good place to get a ticket!

I do know that it's really dangerous certain times of the year while driving at night because of all the wildlife along the highway. Some times are worse than others....anyone had any close calls out that way.....starting on I-10 between here and Kerrville....and on out.

TTG...your story reminds me of driving an RV up a hairpin turn in the rain on a very steep incline when we went to Eureka Springs years ago. I still shudder when I think of my kids up on the bunk and panicking trying to find seat belts under the cushions in the dinette!

Geez- staying ahead of these kids is hard!
LOL smart kid! My son doesn't have any interest in that yet. Is that the same one that signed up on a forum once and started chatting away with the old folks?

My daughter gets on there more than I do so she can keep up with her grades. She knows that she gets in trouble if she drops below an "A".
Yeah, my son asks me to check every day, but he's usually proud of himself. If he skips a day, I figure he didn't do so well on a test. He's allowed to get B's....but he really tries to get all A's.

That's to keep you from turning suicidal. West Texas has that effect on me, anyway. Just awful.

I just ran across this really sad story! FCF....you weren't kidding about Italy being brutal....although we were really talking about Naples a few weeks back.

http://www.mysanantonio.com/military..._in_Italy.html

I couldn't tell from the article where this was. It mentioned the base, but I didn't recognize the town's name. Anyone know where Aviano Air Base or Pordenone, Italy are? Better yet...been there?

How does anyone know this death has to do with a brutal act?

A young girl from my hometown just died while walking on her college campus - a pulminary embolism - nothing to do with brutality and she was 19 and from Texas...

It's in the NorthEast...borders with Slovenia. Hopefully we'll get some more details. Italy has had issues with Slovenians coming in illegally and trying to work, but now both Italy and Slovenia are dealing with illegal Africans trying to come in.
Also, a few years back, there were some cell phone issues. Seems the Italian cell phones were using the Slovenian towers (fairly close) and folks were getting huge bills. Boy were they irritated. I think they fixed that problem though.
