Of course, I did also once read: ".....needless to say, Law and Order ruled in Vlad's day.....".....that is if I verbatimly-recall correctly.......

Well let us just say that no one would have taken the golden cup that was left at the public water well for anyone to drink from in Vlad's domain. I am sure if he was actually eternal he would have made the trains run on time too.

It does not matter who begins first sort of like that an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind saying.

If more officers lived in the communities they patrolled they would also be less likely to have the 'us vs them' class conflict mentality and would try to preserve life, especially of minors, instead of you know, jumping in front of a car and claiming the other person was trying to run them down...
Respect begets Respect, I agree.....if some Imperfect Mortal with Feet of Clay {Unbadgen or Otherwise} comes up to me acting Mightier than a Wrathful Olympian Immortal God from On-High, of course I personally {just like thousands and thousands of others} automatically will quickly begin to resentingly-view such distasteful ch*ng*n*sm* and I will most probably react something like when an aggressive dog approaches a seasoned cat who maybe first starts showing clear, non-threatening yet assertive Body Language that maybe says: "You just watch yourself and your distance. Be cool, and we both can keep things cool."

"Nothing on Earth consumes a man more quickly than the passion of resentment." -Friedrich Nietzsche

Why? No, not because I am interested nor even care for claimingly-being a B.A.M.F. in any way shape or form nor am I insecure enough in myself to posture suchly solely for its own sake but rather because WHO else is going to be standing-up for *me* to respect *me* {I'm not going to bank on anyone for that; it doesn't seem proper that I should anyway}? Life indeed has shown me that if I look like a pushover and walk and talk like one then most probably someone else somewhere may very well predatorially-think: "Hah, looks like Easy Pickins.".....not that that crap happens anymore these days to me. Of course, MORTALS MUST LEARN TO COMMAND RESPECT, NOT DEMAND IT, METHINKS.

Anyhoo:

Growing up, I also have heard several times in the past: "You're not a man if you can't stand-up for yourself.".....and it does seem to be true, I believe.....and I suppose said saying also applies to women too, aye.....

But yeah, I certainly do agree that that does indeed sound to me like a very good idea about Officers living in the areas that they patrol. Some citizens may definitely disagree, I guess {perhaps they have hermetically-clandestine agendas for such detachment, "objectivity", what-have-you, etc.?}. I have also read and heard enough about the whole "Us vs. Them" thing, and have definitely seen its existence formally-validated time and time again.....

I wasn't born yesterday.......

Spiral Dynamics has a system both "applicable to both individuals and entire civilizations". It could also be applied to a family for fun.

For example, a father who rules his family like a dictator and the children follow out of fear, will sacrifice themselves for a reward, unable to truly express themselves, and everyone will believe this authority given to the father is purposeful and right, would be considered a Blue family.

Since it is hierarchical this would also explain why those in the Blue will turn around and look down at those in the Red, those with a street-gang mentality for example.

Which color do you believe America is at? Which color is your family at? Which color do you find yourself at?

Wow.....very interesting, Merovee.....I like these kinds of studies, though I personally do not usually choose to go into detailed discussion on such things.....but to varying degrees: I suppose I do see some of each in America and as well in many individuals.......

Good news! They have all been released except for one who chose to remain in custody as part of their protest. María Antonietta Berriozábal has also been a personal heroine of mine. A previous Harvard University fellow and also UN delegate at the Fourth World Conference on Women.

DREAM Act protesters released from jail

I also find the Spiral Dynamics chart very interesting. It shows exactly when some patterns of thinking developed in history and if we think about it they were also very purposeful for their time, allowing humanity to be stabilized and continue to grow.

Someone in the Blue category might be viewed upon as simply backward in the modern and post-modern eras but if they are from an area that was not very educated and out in the country then that works for them and still might work even today.

A family in the Green category might have their children sacrifice their self-interests now by choosing to pitch in and do yard work, which would increase group harmony, and then go out and spend time with their friends afterward.

That is just one example that comes to mind of how communitarian aspects are involved. As far as the egalitarian aspects, well a family that is just not focused on survival, but has free time, is able to come together and pitch in for a specific goal.

A child in the Green family would also be able to safely and comfortably express their wants and needs as their parents would be able to do the same in return. A far cry from a Red family where what the father says goes no matter what and he is just unable to have a better relationship with his children without resorting to dominance and fear, which is not the same as authority and flexibility.

Going back to Orange, which is involved with science and strategies, we can see in the world that we have done so much in these areas to make better societies since 1000 AD.

With the Yellow category, systemic-integrative, we can clearly see how this level is needed before we can even get into the computer era. Computers are the definitive aspect of systemic-integrative.

Yellow is summed up as, "Express self for what self desires, but to avoid harm to others so that all life, not just own life, will benefit," and can best be seen taking form in a modern religion which was developed before but only began to become popular in the 1950's, Wicca. Society was ready for it.

The eight words within the Wiccan Rede are, "If it harm none, do what you will." (Note: placed in bold for comparison purposes)

So this is just another reason why I have great hope, because even if some choose to remain with outdated thinking from 3000 years ago, society is moving forward without them. We are choosing to progress and anyone who chooses can grow within themselves into new levels of understanding and being.

Gee, I wonder *who* could possibly be behind demonizing marijuana and bullheadedly-lobbies to keep it illegal {Big Tobacco? Big Pharma?}? Hm, can it possibly be someone who maybe thinks that they stand to lose something? Something big? Like big money should a different Plant Material suddenly be legally-sold to the General Public?
