The yard was mostly just grass and cars. It started two blocks south of Commerce on the east side of NB (across from the cemetaries), and went down two blocks to Nevada, and was a block deep, over to Polaris. The office was at the corner of Montana and NB. You found and picked the parts yourself with your tools.

People that owned it lived at Houston and Polaris, which we found out when a friend wanted to buy a whole car and we had to go to the owners to get a price. Got a fairly good '49 Olds body and chassis for $300 and wedged a '56 Olds V8 engine into it. It took a year since we had to do stuff like convert it from mechanical brakes to hydraulics, rebuild the suspension, and like that.

Oh, almost forgot. Speaking of gone but not forgotten, the Highlands classes of '60 and '61 are planning a combined 50th reunion in October. If you didn't get a notice and are interested, let me know and we'll work out how to get the info to you. Don't want to put email or other addresses up here.

Tiffany Billards was on San Pedro north of Jackson Keller and was located in an old country club up on a hill. Galaxy theatre is now the Rialto. Don't think either Tiffany's or Galaxy is open.

If I recall correctly you could count on Tiffany's to provide a robbery, stabbing or a homicide every weekend.

That could be what eventually shut them down. The TABC(formerly known as the LCB) will allow only a given number of murders, crimes, etc. before they take away your liquor license. That's what happened to a place I used to go on Goliad Rd near IH 37 called The Comic Strip(was that the name?).

Sounds right!!! Old country Club?? Didn't know that. Lots of tables though. Thanks. Been a long time since I've been that far north on San Pedro inside 410.

I'm almost positive that the building Tiffany Billiards was in used to be a country club, but it may have been an old dance place. But again, I'm pretty sure it was a country club back in the 50's(give or take a decade)
