Remember when you could get really nice raised printing on 25% rag cotton paper? I guess you can still get it..don't really know.

I bemoan the disappearance of the small "fix-it" and individual service shops. Everything has turned into chain malls & Wal-Mart...

Anyone remember a print ship called Lone Star Printing Co. on Commerce, just east of Joske's? It was also next door to Staffel's...

Default Mrs. Johnson's Bakery & Carl's meats

I wondered who kept the bakery open so long as my grandmother worked for Mrs. J in the late 1940s then part time in early '50s when she was still at Drexel & New Braunfels. Wish you hadn't mentioned them rolls and Carl's tasty meats 'cause now I'm hungry and can only barely remember how good they were. Then Dwangle had to mention hitting all the taco shops while delivering paper around town and sh&#$T!! it'/s not even 10:30 n the morning yet and I'm craving one or the other plus an orange cupcake!!

Obviously, I didn't mean a print "ship," but it's too late to edit my post. Besides, I'm now starving from reading about those rolls! <slurp>

This is from the back of the 1968 "Traveler". Robert E. Lee's yearbook.

Those are the old diamond embossed bottles we discussed earlier!

I went to Lee all four years, and graduated in 1971. I don't recall the Sign Man.
