I remember that Fargo's and ate lunch there often as a SwRI employee. They had a nice lunch special where you could get a small pizza with a trip to the salad bar and a drink for cheap, and enjoy watching the Three Stooges in the movie room while you ate.
Also, back in the mid 70's, in that same strip center, was a Mexican buffet restaurant called Mortazavi's (sp). Didn't last long - maybe six months. Anybody remember it?

Yeah, the Three Stooges and other old cartoon favorites...I can't believe those places folded. I'd rather go to a place like that today than some of these others...

I was wondering if anyone had any info on the old white house just adjacent to the school. It was on the West side, and back then it was in disrepair. Being young, we all thought it was haunted, and if you kicked the ball over the fence during kickball/recess, you were screwed. Any info?

No...I don't know anything about that house. I believe all that property was part of either the Perrin land or the Zercher farm.....both had very large tracks of land that were parceled off over time. The actual Perrin house is still standing and is a private residence about a mile North of 410.
I do know that Serna Elementary was the very first elementary school in the NE district. That location was actually the second location. The first school was approximately where Leslie's Pool Supply is located on Austin Highway...right where Perrin Beitel Rd dead ends into Austin Hwy. There is no remaining evidence a school was ever located there. I think the original structure was a small farmhouse that was added onto. Not sure of the time period.
There might be a historian at the district office. If not, there should be!

It's the Callaghan/Culebra intersection....I think the one (Whiskey Smith's) you named was closer to Callaghan/410....

I used to work in a real estate office (Van Buren and Assoc) We were in the strip center on Evers at Wurzbach and we had a Fargo's right across the parking lot from us. I ate there often and yes you could see Three Stooges as well as the Little Rascals. This was from 1976 to 1980.

Would anyone have pictures of the Coney Island downtown that was on North St. Mary's St. across from the Empire theatre?
