not meaning to throw a curve here, but does anyone remember the Friesenhahn family? old man Friesenhahn used to have a materials place(soil, gravel, etc) on the WESTERN side of nacogdoches road, between dreamwood and oconnor road. his property ran from about dreamwood, down south of nacog. about to where Firestone sits now. dept-wise, it went all the way back to where the St. Helena's Catholic Church now sits. he also had a small house on the property. his daughter would would the business, writing out receipts to guys who would come in the 'yard' and buy material. old man Friesenhahn would load my dump truck for me. he was around 75-80 at the time(1995). always wore a straw hat. the guy could probably work ME into the ground. nice fellow. he once told me that he may sell the property. i think the city was 'forcing' him to move. you know, progress must not stand still. said he had another place out back behind randolph air force base. i moved down the street from the nacog. location about 2002. his materials place was still there. but soon after that, it was gone. i remember driving by(i used to drive out the OTHER was on nacog), and saw that it had been bulldozed, and a new subdivision was coming in. you can google the location and see that they named one of the streets---FRIESENHAHN COURTS. and now....you know...

knew a guy back in the mid 60's that lived not too far from me; around lively and vance jackson road area. any way, he says for me and a friend to come down to his moms house, and "see" what he has. he had a smudge pot filled with staffels weed killer, mixed with sugar. that crap would burn like black gunpowder. he lit the dam thing, and all we could do was run into the garage. the thing went off in his backyard. i swear i thought my hearing was gone! me and my friend got so scared, we just ran! mike(the mad bomber) probably would have run too, but the blast knocked him into his dads storeroom from the side door of the garage to the backyard. we later learned that the police found parts of the smudgepot over 400 yards away from the blast. the house lost all the windows on that particular side of the house. luckily, no one was killed or injured.

i bought a honda SL350 in 1970 when i got a job at a toy store after coming home from the navy. there was a honda dealer on fred road, just past babcock, on the right side. i also bought both my honda 750's there. rode both of them at suicide cliffs by Lee; and over on S.E. Military close to WW White road.
