I matriculated from dear old Highlands Hi in 1963 when we were both still young since it opened only a few years earlier. And having gone from Poe Jr. Hi to Highlands HS in 1960 was a culture shock that took some getting used to since I was accustomed to much more diversity than then existed at Highlands. That was also in the good old days before even Highlands HS was air-conditioned if you can believe it. We just opened all the windows and hoped for a breeze but sometimes not even a puff of air was there so it could be dang tough staying awake. Thanks for asking and do we know each other? I hope so because I've reconnected with very few of the old bunch.
Adios from Austin

There was a Cowboys night club on the Loop 410 side of the old Central Park Mall in the 1990s. Could that be the one you're thinking of?
The film strip thing was known as "Light of the Loop", and was located on the Westbound Loop 410 access road, at or near the intersection of Tansyl. Someone built an outdoor-theatre-type wall on the side of a house that was exposed to passing traffic on 410, and had a projector on the vacant tract of land next to it. It's been gone for several years.

I think there was a place called Cowboy's off 410 between Bandera and Evers near where the trailer rental place is now. It was in the business park area. I know there was a night club there in the early eighties

I remember there was a nightclub called "The Cowboy" at Bandera & 410 (corner of Kenwick Dr.) around 1980.

The ads that are in the back of my old high school yearbooks from Marshall are a veritable time capsule for the NW side of town from the late 70s and early 80s.
