This thread needs a bump, so I am going to ask the panel: who remembers Malibu Grand Prix, and what are your best memories from there?

Actually, that was La Semana Alegre...<G> Ran by the San Antonio Jaycees for years, one of the few bright spots for the younger Fiesta crowd to party.

Malibu - oh, geez - like "accidentally" spinning out in the curves?<G>

I miss Winn's stores a lot, nothing can beat looking at toys for a good while then top it off with an icee and popcorn.

Castle Golf is still there. That area was High school dating heaven. Quick bite to eat at Mama's, then a movie at Northwest theatre, then off for a round of putt putt or laps around the race track. End the evening parking off the road on Vance Jackson or over up at Midget.

Those were the days..... :P

I remember if you brought in your report card, they used to give out 5 tokens for an A and like 2 for a B.

Anyone remember the exact year it was built? I want to say around 1979? If I remember correctly Malibu was built first then Castle Golf & Games came shortly after malibu was complete.

They also built one (Malibu) in Austin on I-35, south of the river.

Nice job, Dwangle. The only one I can add is Sinclair.
