Sorry AFWife but I drove by there and the place has been turned into a tire shop. But I did get you some pictures of a gas station that has been abandoned ever since I can remember back in the 80's so it must be really old. Enjoy...

This has nothing to do with the original thread question.

Flew into San Antonio yesterday evening and had a window seat - took the oportunity to check out the Roaring 20's property from the air. The building has been gutted - only the shell remains - much of the roof is gone.
The Villa being built on the property is huge and nearly complete. The land has been cleared out around the new house. Looks very nice.

Well some places inside 410 are in rough shape but I happen to think that there are alot of places inside the loop that are very beautiful and a lot of businesses in great shape. Of course that's just my humble opinion.

I went to the Roaring 20a in the not-so-roaring 70s a couple of times. It was a place with a big dance floor and maybe the only Big Band left in town. I thought it was great - a real slice of history - although the folks there were a tad long in the tooth. Now I'm one of the folks who is similarly disposed!

"This place looks like most places inside 410 that are still in business and not abandoned."
From an architectural point of view, the stuff within the Loop is generally much better than the trailer trash - old in ten years - architecture being built outside of the loop. That stuff could be in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Fresno - literally anywhere with no sense of place or climate. There are some gems in la-la-loop land, but not many.
