The Roaring 20's Burned to the Ground July 4th. Saw the flames outside my bedroom window this evening. The entire neighborhood of Churchill Forest is in shock. The flames could be seen from 1604. My thanks to the many fire fighters that came and contained it saving hundreds of homes.

I saw the fire from where I live and it's sad to see such an old building go up in flames like that. It was one of few places of history left.

There are still fire trucks there right now. I suspect it was arson. Here is a link from WOAI about the fire - suposedly it was under renovation but I doubt that. Living right behind it for the past six years (I can see it out my windows) I haven't seen any renovation going on. About the only thing they have done is tear down part of the building, clear the lot and build a huge house behind it. But what do I know. Anyway - here is the link: Roaring 20's Nightclub Burns Down Overnight | WOAI.COM: San Antonio News

The original site of "The Roaring Twenties" burnt down to the ground last night (July 4th-07) and we saw it ablaze. Sad sight. I used to eat at what used to be "Hunters Inn" before it was sold, resold, sold again, and what is apparently now "El Callejon". I had always heard that Old Blanco Rd was haunted. AFWife, it is near impossible to find any info on this place, but I am sure there will be something on it today...

I feel weird posting this on this thread after reading about the Roaring 20's place burning down... How sad!
But to answer the other question about swinger's clubs - Vicar Rd (just past Perrin Beitel on the 410 East Frontage Rd.) It's an unmarked coral/peach colored building. (Ugly!) People from my hubby's work went to see what it was and found out it was a swinger's club. They were turned away Anyway.... if you really wanted to know!

There is more to this story than meets the eye. The news media keeps reporting that the building was under renovation (IT WAS NOT!!) and that they spoke to the owner - he is in Italy!!! Does the media check any facts before reporting them?
I suspect arson - and probably more details that will emerge in the future.
