Default We'll get it done in 2011

Get ready folks, 2011 is right around the corner and if we can get Slick Rick out of the mansion, Texans will actually have the chance to VOTE on this. Not sure if you all know this but last session it was passed and would have been approved by a House vote. Then WE would have been able to vote on it. Seems like Slick Rick knows what we all want. He went in and stopped the house from voting on it. Talk about controlling what WE want. It's time to get this pocket filling moron out of office.

I'm not a big Bill White fan but I live in Houston and know that he ran this city very well and will do the same for the state we love so much.

Missouri they look pretty nice
and the state can pass a law banning them from putting up more than X number of billboards.

This will never ever ever happen. If Texas passes gambling it will almost definitely mirror the gambling allowances in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Missouri. There will have to be special zones or water way restrictions. It would never ever happen otherwise. What will happen with be most major cities near these zones will make an effort to eminent domain and annex lands close to the casinos in an effort to become part of their tax base. The same thing happened when they built DFW airport in the 70's.

That said, I complete support passing legalized gambling in Texas.

I actually don't like Casinos,
but San Antonio is a tourist city and it could be an extra source of revenue = lower taxes.

I wouldn't count on those chickens until I'd had their eggs for breakfast. The city would probably give them a sweet heart deal. No taxes first 30 years... or some such thing. I don't think most people would really want what comes with the casinos. We don't need them either. We've reaped no visible rewards from the Lotto either IMO.

Question for all anti-casino people:

Why is horse-racing ok, and casinos are not?

Exactly...

Lottery = Gambling
Stock Market = Gambling
Horse Races = Gambling
Poker Nights = Gambling
Everytime I get into the car = Gambling

Look, I respect everyone's opinions and viewpoints...however, there is a reason why I work extremely hard to earn a good living. I've got a great house, great family and the like...allow me to spend MY HARD EARNED MONEY how I want to!

I love it whenever I hear someone say..."We shouldn't have it because it will lead people to poverty...so we shouldn't build it". It's their own damn fault that they can't control themselves...they need help, it's not the institution that's causing it.

I have an idea..."We shouldn't sell OTC Drugs because people abuse them and it could lead people to drug addiction" Yeah...right...

I'm all for legalizing it! Let's keep the money in state...
