Hey all, I need suggestions on where to take my Mom for dinner for her birthday. We are going Saturday night, early, six-ish. I need restaurants in the 410 area between Culebra and Fred Rd. or on I-10 preferably closer to 410. Mom lives off Portranco and 151 so fairly close to that area. Nothing too exotic. I took her to Aldino's once and she thought it was "weird." I ask her where she wants to go and she says, "I don't care." Please help - thanks.

P.S. someplace nice but not overly expensive as she would not be comfortable there.

How does she feel about seafood? There is a Sea Island at 410 and Ingram. The food is simple, easily recognizable, and good and the atmosphere is casual. Prices are also reasonable.

Acadiana Cafe

Acadiana is really good (imho) and a good value, too. Very casual, but nice and clean and pleasant waitstaff.

If she likes Mexican Food there's a restaurant right next to Chucky Cheese (which is right behind Denny's) at Ingram & 410. Just a tad higher than moderately priced but the food is excellent. Last time I saw the place was painted green. Good service and if you're lucky, Karaoke Night...

Then there's Olive Garden @ Ingram. Only problem is ya gotta get there about 4 pm to have a shot at getting seated by 5-5:30. Always crowded.
