What a storm!! They just don't make em like that out west. I've posted some pix to wrap up the show from tonite.

And yes... This crazy transplant got in his car and drove up the street to get a better view.

Pix 1026 is my personal favorite.

I agree, this one is extremely cool.

I was driving back from HEB as the storm was approaching and the light storm began. I couldn't keep my eyes off it.

It's funny, but I hear this a lot from California transplants and Pacific northwest transplants, how they love the thunderstorms and hard pounding rain and how you can't get them like. For instance, in Seattle or Portland it's just a constant drizzle as opposed to our "you best have your wipers on full speed" rain.

Man it was beautiful wasn't it. My battery wasn't charged or I would have gotten the lightning before the clouds rolled in. I tell ya. There's magic in this old southern sky.

Default Very cool light show!

Good job on the pics WFF!

Coming from Seattle I much prefer lightning and thunder over constant drizzle. The gray days we've been having are a good reminder for why we moved here in the first place. I haven't seen lightning "shows" like this since I was a kid back in Colorado Springs. My husband is a WA native and so are my kids so the storms are really new and fun for us all (even our dogs don't seem to mind.)

You need to visit Amarillo, the best lightening show and especially around the Palo Duro Canyon state Park.

Great pics (2 points for you!). I was raised in Southern California and remember visiting my mom's parents in McDonald, Kansas. One night we were coming back from eating out and I saw my first lightning strike (similar to your pics). I was 15 back then and was very impressed and a little scared my grandparents house would be hit. I have seen lightening hit an electric pole in Abilene (about 50 yards away) and heard lightning hit a big oak tree about 30 feet away here in San Antonio.

The motto of this story: Lightening is great to see...just not on top of me!

Awesome pics! We didn't get much over in Stone Oak on the first wave but this next one looks worse. There is a third one behind it.

Default Good morning!

Good morning and thanks everyone! Thanks for taking the time to check out my amateur storm chaser pictures. I'll have to do a little better if I'm to make my debut on the weather channel.

210, I passed out downstairs before the second storm came through. Sorry buddy. I was going to get some really good ones.

Btw, that last picture is supposed to show all the water running down my street. There was a river flowing last night but I couldn't quite capture a great still photo of it. Oh well.

It's Saturday!!! Wooo Hoooo

Enjoy this beautiful day!!
