Jenn2009, I rep'd you for livening things up around here. This forum has frankly gotten a little boring. I was fixin to start a thread called "Grandpa wants to do internet porn". You saved us all.

I hope thing work out well for your daughter.

im about as open and liberal as youll find in here but i agree with banker. id never hire someone with experience at a strip club. as an employer, i can choose to hire or not for whatever reason i want, as long as its not a protected right. working at a strip club is not a protected right.

ive also had 2 friends (males) who worked in strip clubs, one as a dj and another as a busser. they both dated strippers, got high, and just became lowlifes. the money was good and they were having fun. try explaining a 2 year employment gap when you dont want to admit to working in a strip club.

and to the OP, if your daughter cant afford to live on a regular paycheck, then shes got her priorities wrong and you should worry about her in an environment where people throw around thousands of dollars. rent is cheap in this city, student loans dont kick in until 6 months after graduation and she can pay the minimum until she finds a better job. she can cut down on shopping, partying, or whatever she wastes her money on, or she can move back home or get a bunch of roommates.

But no one is being judgmental!

In an attempt to get this thread back on track, can the OP post some of her daughter's other qualifications and/or desires when it comes to a career in hopes that someone on here might know of a job she can apply for?

It is easy to sit behind a keyboard and criticize her choices and/or her situation, but it would be a heckuva lot more productive if we tried to help find her another line of work that wouldn’t be so contemptuous in some people’s opinion…

Also, to the OP, I refrain from adding judgement, only my personal knowledge on such situations (no I never worked in a strip club). I knew two girls (about 10 years ago) who had been strippers and they said they always told their moms they were waitresses or bartenders. Just something to keep in mind if you feel the need to discuss her career choices.

I was going to say this - but held back. I just wonder how many girls tell their parents that they are just a waitress...and not a stripper...but actually are a stripper because of the money.

Soon, she'll see how much money the dancers are making and it will just be a matter of time before she begins...

In college, I dated a girl who worked as a waitress in a strip club. We didn't meet there as I personally can't stand that type of place. To each their own, I guess. She was a good girl, a sweet girl, and the only reason she took the job was for the same reason the OP's daughter is taking the job. In an economy as tough as this economy, only those with gainful employment can afford to be so morally righteous as to condemn her for this choice.

By the way, the girl I had dated stopped working at the club after she found a different job. Some women honestly view jobs like this as a financial stopgap, not as a career.

I'd venture to say that they all start out with that view.
