anyone else have any info about our local Hospitals? I can't figure out if this pig flu is just big hype from the media or not? i keep hearing that the World Health Organization is going to raise the flu alert to level 5! that sounds serious?

The key here is PREVENTION. If precautions are not taken, YES, it could be potentially serious. This virus is not hanging outside the door ready to nab some unsuspecting victim. There has to be contact with an infected individual through hugging, kissing, sharing food, sneezing, coughing, shaking hands and touching your mouth or nose....ie passing off live germs to someone else. The virus cannot survive without the right conditions.
The schools and facilities that are closing are doing so to reduce close proximity of people in crowded areas. While they are showing pictures of cleaning crews swabbing down the decks, it's not really necessary. Avoiding exposure to infected individuals for five days is the best measure of safety.

My daughter just told me that all UIL interscholastic competition is suspended until May 11.
