okay, I now have ZERO faith in the CDC. I tested positive last Monday for flu a & b. My Dr. checked with the state cdc while I was there - sitting with my blue mask...for their requirements as to how to send a sample in for them to test for swine flu.

My dr.'s office followed the regulations & took another swab from me, I watched as they sealed it up & they even SHOWED me the fax they got with the regulations on how to send it in.

I've been waiting until this morning, 8 days later...when my doctors office was finally told by the cdc that the requirements for the samples changed on Wed., 2 days after they sent mine in so mine was basically trashed & marked as "inconclusive".

Fabulous. Anyway, I'm fine now but my husband & kiddo missed a week of work & school for "inconclusive. what if this was something really serious????

In case you hadn't heard yet, SCUCISD is reopening Thursday, May 7, instead of waiting until Monday. The CDC has backed off its recommendation to close schools when a case of the virus was found. More info on the district web site: Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD

SAISD has announced that there is a case of H1N1 in a student who attends Edison HS. They're not closing any schools.

The CDC now says the schools should remain open. Parents can't stay home and the kids need their breakfast and lunches.

The burden is now on the school nurse (detection) and parent (keep home)

That's probably where it should have always been. Parents first, then school faculty and staff. I don't think they accomplished anything by having the kids stay home.

One confirmed case in NEISD, too :North East ISD and Swine Influenza A (H1N1)

It was bound to happen, even with the extra precautions the districts and indviduals have been taking. Let's hope the outbreak subsides soon...
